The Ancient Chronicles: The Newborn by Richard A. Delgado
Synopsis:
Badly treated by his father, Leonardo spends the evening hiding away only to find his entire family brutally murdered the next morning. That night, he’d had a dream about monsters, but it had only been a dream, right? Perhaps not, as his family is now dead, and Leonardo is thrust into work as a slave, living a life of solitude as he plots revenge. Unbeknownst to young Leonardo, a dark and mysterious entity has been watching him carefully, waiting for the opportune moment to take him away from his life of abuse and mistreatment. Boris is a reckless, seductive vampire who sees great promise in Leonardo, so one night in the woods, he takes his life-but gives him another. Boris teaches him the immortal ways through the Vampyr Law. However, as a newborn vampire, Leonardo fights a battle between his mortal past and immortal future. He must choose to embrace the darkness or fight against those who came before, while still seeking vengeance for his family’s massacre and even becoming a killer himself.
The Ancient Chronicles: The Newborn by Richard A. Delgado is a compelling, gripping and engaging, must read novel in which all readers of vampire stories will love and revel in!
As a young boy, Leonardo seemed to always have such a strained and resentful relationship with his father. No matter how hard he tried to please him, his father never acknowledged it to be good enough, thus leaving Leonardo to feel cold and embittered feelings towards the man. But his sweet and loving mother always cared so much for Leonardo and knew his emotional needs as well. Knowing the times he needed space were the times his father would hurt him. Leonardo loved and adored his sister and they always had a close bond.
One night, after one of the worst ever belittlement's from his father in which Leonardo has ever endured, he retreated despite his sister’s pleads and concern if he was ok. Mother, always knowing her son, even if he wasn’t her biological, knew he needed his time and space. The next day Leonardo woke up to an eerie and dreadful feeling that something very bad had happened at his home. To his absolute horror, Leonardo finds his mother and father severely massacred and his siblings missing, nowhere to be found. Devastated and frightened, bewilderment consumes Leonardo as he flees from his only home to survive in the wilderness with nothing but the clothes on his back. After what seems like forever, Leonardo can no longer withstand the cruel frozen weather and finds retreat at a Slave Trade, and because of his youth, gets sold right away.
Leonardo is sold to an evil and heartless man that had a beautiful property but never really appreciated it. He owned many slaves and treated them poorly. Beating them sometimes to death or shooting them in the head. He had no mercy. Leonardo had a deep desire to get revenge on whoever killed his family, but the feeling started to fade the longer he worked as a slave. Always with the feeling of something from the dark watching him, Leonardo meets a strange man that he deems untrustworthy and bad. The man is determined to interact with Leonardo and in a quickness the cryptic man has taken over Leonardo and turns him into something that is not from the human world. A creature that can only survive off the blood of the mortal, a vampire. Now, more than ever, Leonardo is faced with inner battles and difficult choices.
With every turn of the page, The Ancient Chronicles: The Newborn by Richard A. Delgado is a dark and mysterious story with excellent foreshadowing and a perplexing plot. The characters are interesting and complex with detailed personalities and traits. Richard A. Delgado’s impeccable talent for painting a vivid description of every scene really shows through in this remarkable tale. A very enjoyable and thrilling saga that will have you hooked until the very end. Mindfully and articulately written, this novel had me immediately absorbed in the spellbinding story-line, and engaging list of characters. The main character, Leonardo, has a strange mystic vibe that really draws the reader to him and makes him likable. The plot keeps you guessing and occupied while the scenery and time is always a perfect portrayal. Chick Lit Cafe would most definitely recommend The Ancient Chronicles: The Newborn by Richard A. There Will Be Hell To Pay by Benjamin Gilad - Book Review

There Will Be Hell To Pay by Benjamin Gilad
Synopsis:
They say those who get deep into the Kabbalah’s mystical text of the celestial spheres can lose their minds. But one man discovers the celestial spheres are far from saintly. The man, Jack Merriman, is a Seer sucked into the celestial realm against his better judgment. He finds out Satan is a beautiful female with a keen sense of justice. Archangel Michael sounds just like James Earl Jones and the Cherubs fill the Celestial spheres with heavenly elevator music. But underneath, the Celestial Spheres are as political and incompetent as a big government agency.
Jack is driven to the brink of insanity with this discovery, as his girlfriend, Harmony tries to keep him from being killed. Or does she? In the midst of it all, Jack has to make a choice between justice and forgiveness. He chooses justice, and all Hell breaks loose, and it’s a good thing.
There Will Be Hell To Pay by Benjamin Gilad is a clever, entertaining story filled with mystery, conflict and intrigue. Jack Merriman is an ex-law enforcement officer. He is forty five, alone, without any family and his sister, Leah has passed away. He reluctantly accepts employment with the MHB, which is the Memory Hunting Bureau, a mysterious agency whose task is to save the In-betweens – people who have died and the memory of them is vanishing, but who can remain “alive” as long as someone remembers them.  Jack travels the world uncovering vanishing memories when he meets Harmony whose specialty is the role of magic in modern time. Readers will contemplate whether she will be his love interest, or something more, while she tries to keep him from being killed. Jack is pulled into the celestial realm where he can see and hear, and discovers a chaotic and incompetent organization. Jack is almost driven to madness, while readers will be driven to the edge, while reading this remarkable book.
There Will Be Hell To Pay by Benjamin Gilad has suspenseful, intriguing twists and turns, while Jack is finally on the track of the unknown driver who killed his sister, whose memory is vanishing too.  The political workings of the heavenly beings is smart, and described with depth and imagination. Author Benjamin Gilad brings readers an engrossing story while interpreting Genesis’ “So God created man in His own image” literally. Glued to the pages, I was taken on an emotional journey between earthly activity and the spiritual interactions of cosmic beings, while glimpsing into their petty and at time nefarious fight for power. There Will Be Hell To Pay is a most interesting, original and compelling read with a solid plot that drew me in from start to finish.
I couldn’t put There Will Be Hell To Pay down – not only are the characters incredible, but the pages are filled with absurdities and humor. This book will appeal to a variety of readers. I was very intrigued and fully entertained by the clever idea of the celestial spheres, the spiritual realm, their activities and thought-provoking politics.
There Will Be Hell To Pay by Benjamin Gilad is a must read for all those who love the supernatural, suspense and mystery genres. Chick Lit CafĂ© is confident in recommending There Will Be Hell To Pay. Readers will absolutely love and devour it.
